The narrator painted a picture with his words and brought everything to life. Why? I do listen to various titles on audio, they are a great companion when driving, travel out of state once a week, but this audio book was like no other. This review won't go down too well with some of the traditionalists here. The Explanation regarding the Loch Ness monster and the other creatures is so well put, that it could be factual. If you are a kid at heart is a fun story, with the slightest touch of cupid romance and growing pains.Ĭooper leaves a cunning twist at the end that leaves it open for a series. Its probably for a younger age than I normally read, it's marked for 4-5th grade, but I would put it in the 7-99 year range. The relationship between Archie and his father who previously never knew of each others existence, grows from putting up with each other to fondness and love.
The characters made the story, Archie is a naive kid with a big heart. One moment he is the happiest kid on the street, the next he suffers a tragedy no child being raised by a single parent should ever have to go through. Ten-year-old Archie's only concern in the world was getting his 10 meter swimming certificate along with his best friend. A warm 'get-away' from it all charming novel.
